V.P.I Specifications (Viscount Pipe Interface)
The V.P.I is an Interface system that allows VISCOUNT electronic organs, through dedicated Midi connection, to control registers of a pipe organ with electrical transmission.
From the electronic console it is possible to control both digital and pipe registers and thus keeping all the automatisms of electronic organ, such as Unions, adjustable Combinations, section volumes, sequencers, etc.
The system is equipped with a temperature sensor & Microphone for automatic pitch control, allowing the digital organ to follow the intonation of the pipe organ.
The system modularity and flexibility allows to control Pipe Registers made with any type of wind system and registers combination:
- COMMON registers: common windchest ( or “channel”-per-key”).
- INDEPENDENT registers: independent windchest (a pipe rank of for each register)
- BORROWED registers: borrowed registers (same pipe rank used by different registers, even of different sections)
- EXTENDED registers: extended registers rank (a single pipe rank of some prolonged some octaves to create multiple registers).
Composition and characteristics of the VPI system:
CPU:
Midi IN/OUT connection with the digital organ.
Connection for remote system power on from the organ console
Programming of the system functionality by using function keys and alphanumeric display menu (2×40).
Connection for Microphone & Temperature sensor for the automatic control of the organ pitch by using real-time reading of the ambient temperature and the frequency of a sample pipe sound.
Mother Board:
Available in 2 versions: 4 or 9 slots for Drivers boards.
For complex applications it is possible to expand the number of slots by connecting in series additional Mother Board.
Master Driver Card:
Available in 2 versions: 72 or 48 outputs (28 or 52 for registers, 2 tremulants, 2+16 programmable for 1 or 2 Expression Pedals)
Both versions are available:
– 12 volt (Usable range 12V-18V) Negative Common or Positive Common
– 24 volt (Usable range 20V-30V) Negative Common or Positive Common
Each output can drive loads with current up to 1Amp.
Slave Driver Cards
Available in 2 versions: 72 or 48 outputs for the notes.
Both versions are available:
– 12 volt (Usable range 12V-18V) Negative Common or Positive Common
– 24 volt (Usable range 20V-30V) Negative Common or Positive Common
Each output can drive loads with current up to 1Amp.
